Job summary

City of Prescott is seeking a Utility Worker - Water Distribution to support daily operations of the water system. The role involves inspection, maintenance, meter work, and customer service to ensure safe and efficient water service.

The ideal candidate has a HS diploma and at least 1 year of journey-level experience, plus a valid Arizona CDL with tank endorsement or the ability to obtain one within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• One year of full-time journey-level construction, maintenance, or equipment operations experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Possess a valid Arizona Class A (or B) CDL with tank endorsement or obtain within one year of hire; ADEQ Grade I Water Distribution certification or obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports daily operations for water and wastewater systems.
• Inspects hydrants, valves, water infrastructure, tanks, and lift stations; maintains and repairs sewer lines and related appurtenances.
• Operates vehicles and specialized water/wastewater equipment; performs basic meter work and readings.
• Reads meters, checks connections for leaks, and identifies customer leaks.
• Performs confined space entries and routine maintenance on equipment used in water operations.
• Performs customer service calls and provides information to the public.
