Job summary

Woodard & Curran is seeking a Water Distribution Manager in Missouri to lead a team of 12 professionals, oversee operations for a 150,000-resident system across 600 square miles, and manage a $1.7M annual budget. The role demands strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and commitment to safety and quality.

The position is on-site in St. Charles County with Monday–Friday hours and a focus on reliability, compliance, and customer service for public water supply.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience managing water distribution systems.
• Missouri Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certification Level DS-III or ability to obtain within one year.
• Experience leading personnel and managing operational budgets.
• Knowledge of Missouri drinking water regulations and distribution system requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of water distribution professionals.
• Manage an annual operating budget of about $1.7 million.
• Oversee maintenance and reliability of 700+ miles of piping and infrastructure.
• Direct valve maintenance program and 12,000 valves on a five-year rotation.
• Coordinate testing of ~5,800 fire hydrants for safety and readiness.
• Manage system flushing and dead-end mains program.
• Plan and execute maintenance, repair, and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with drinking water regulations.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver strong performance.
• Support emergency response and reliability initiatives.
