Job summary

The City of Worcester is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer, Grade 3, in the Water Operations Division of the Department of Public Works. You will perform entry-level technical and professional engineering work in office and field settings, reviewing plans and overseeing construction projects for the water distribution system.

Under supervision, you will interact with contractors, consultants, and the public, and may supervise sub-professional assistants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Sanitary Engineering or equivalent combination with five (5) years of engineering project experience.
• Experience in performing engineering computations and research.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Driver's License PREFERRED

Responsibilities

• Review plans and applications for construction projects.
• Conduct resident engineering oversight on public and private construction projects.
• Perform entry level technical and professional engineering work in the office and in the field.
• Interact regularly with contractors, consultants, and the public.
• Supervise small groups of sub-professional assistants when needed.
• Work under supervision with a strong learning environment.
