Job summary

HDR is seeking a senior Data Steward for the Water Business Group in the United States (Omaha area, NE). The role defines data standards, maintains data definitions, and coordinates across the enterprise to enable reliable reporting, automation, and AI use.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 15 years in data-centric leadership, strong governance experience, and a track record of cross‑functional influence.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Water engineering industry.
  • Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other leaders and managers.
  • Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
  • Active participation in HDR’s employee‑owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and coordinate a network of SME expertise across the Water Business Group to define technical standards.
  • Develop and maintain business-aligned data definitions for key engineering and technical terms.
  • Build alignment and consensus around data processes, priority, and expected use.
  • Promote consistent, responsible use of technical data, including access and data quality.
  • Support governance of externally sourced datasets and lifecycle considerations.
  • Promote data fluency across the Water Business Group.
  • Coordinate with the Technology Director to align data workflows with Water BG Strategy.
  • Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of data standards, practices, and tools.
  • Regularly communicate with Data Stewards and Enterprise Data teams.
  • Ensure new tools align to data strategy.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related discipline
