Job summary

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) is seeking an Engineer I to assist with engineering system design across multiple projects. You will perform design calculations, prepare cost estimates, and produce deliverable drawings under close supervision.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, up to 1 year of experience, and familiarity with core engineering principles. Interaction with staff and limited client-facing tasks are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 0 - 1 year experience preferred.
• Strong grasp of core engineering principles across disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical).
• Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWorks, or discipline-specific software.

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineers and Designers in the design and detail of engineering systems; write/edit specifications and research design options on appropriate devices, equipment, and system selections.
• Apply prescribed techniques and procedures to perform tasks; research findings and provide recommendations.
• Collect data, perform basic computations or analysis, and prepare drawings or visual aids.
• Participate in meetings to ensure code compliance; may conduct site investigations and observations.
• May interact with staff, the public, officials, and contractors; limited client-facing responsibilities.
