Job summary

Gonzalez Companies is seeking a Construction Inspector to serve as on-site representative for water/wastewater projects, ensuring compliance with plans, codes, and regulatory standards. The CEI will coordinate with contractors and engineers to support successful project delivery.

The role requires inspecting facilities, reviewing submittals, and supporting testing, with travel to multiple job sites in the Midwest. A relevant engineering degree and 2+ years’ experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 2+ years inspecting water/wastewater facilities or related infrastructure.
• Knowledge of AWWA, EPA, OSHA and state/local regulations.
• Ability to read engineering plans and specifications.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants, pump stations, storage tanks, and distribution systems.
• Verify that construction and installation work complies with design plans and regulations.
• Document observations with inspection reports, photos, and logs.
• Monitor contractor activities for quality control and safety.
• Identify deficiencies and communicate findings to project managers and engineers.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and as-built documents when appropriate.
• Provide inspection updates in project meetings and support issue resolution.
• Assist in testing, commissioning, and start-up inspections of equipment and systems.
• Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance during construction and operations.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and corrective actions.
