Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Water Aerobics Instructor to join our team.

As a Water Aerobics Instructor, you design and lead water fitness classes, promote safety, and engage members of diverse backgrounds in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Certification and ongoing training support professional standards, flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular conditioning.

Qualifications

• One year or more related experience preferred.
• I have previous experience working with adults and diverse populations.
• I am able to demonstrate water fitness skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• I am confident in the water.
• Must have or be willing to obtain Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid certifications (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans.

Job description

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Water Aerobics Instructor to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As a Water Aerobics Instructor, you are responsible for creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with their certification and YMCA policies and procedures. Individuals in this role instruct water aerobics implementing professional standards and fitness guidelines: flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular conditioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and instruct water fitness classes in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
• Instruct water fitness classes for a variety of skill levels.
• Prepare lesson plans.
• Give clear directions, cues, and demonstrations.
• Create a safe and positive atmosphere.
• Promote member safety and engagement.
• Help others improve flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardiovascular conditioning.

• I have current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications (preferred).
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Wage: $19.23 to $23.68 per hour, (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Bremerton Family YMCA, Bremeton, WA
