Hot Springs Village seeks a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in Training to join Public Utilities. Under supervision, you will learn to operate and maintain sewer treatment facilities and participate in related tasks.

This full-time role requires 18+ years, a valid Arkansas driver’s license, and the ability to obtain Arkansas Class I Wastewater within a year, plus a Class I Collection license within two years.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must obtain Arkansas Class I Wastewater within a year.
  • Must be able to obtain within two years an Arkansas Grade I Wastewater Collection License.
  • Must have a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
  • High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain plant pump stations, treatment plants, and equalization basins.
  • Perform repairs on pumps, motors, vehicles, and related equipment.
  • Be on call for overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Conduct laboratory analysis, sampling, monitoring, calculations, and calibration.

SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Lead Plant Operator, as assigned performs any duties to operate and maintain the sewer treatment plants and participates in related tasks as needed. Assists in sewer operations and maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES as ASSIGNED include the following:

  • Responsible for properly operating and maintaining plant pump stations, treatment plants, and equalization basins.
  • Performs repairs on pumps, motors, vehicles, lawnmowers, plant facilities, and related equipment.
  • Ability to be on call duty, work overtime, weekends, and Holidays, both scheduled and unscheduled as required.
  • Performs and/or assists in performing laboratory analysis, sampling, monitoring, calculations, and calibration. Reads recorder readings, performs general duties such as painting, mowing and brush hogging, cleaning, and general maintenance.
  • Performs basic computer operations per SCADA operations and record keeping.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned by the Lead Plant Operator or Chief Plant Operator Water/Wastewater Superintendent.
  • Responsible for operating in accordance with Local, State, Federal Regulations, and POA Policies and Procedures. Insure proper operating levels and Compliance with NPDES permit parameters.
  • Follow safety compliance policies and procedures and assist coworkers relating to overall job safety compliance.
  • Perform rounds on all shifts, make sure all parts of the Plant are functioning properly.
  • Responsible for follow up of actions and ongoing personal development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as assigned. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and work nights, weekends and holidays if needed.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be available for call outs for emergency call out.
  • Must have transportation to and from work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Math skills to include the ability to use formulas related to volumes, areas, percent, dosages and time. Ability to use American weight measurement as well as metric.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding. Able to carry out multiple and semi-complex instruction. Ability to deal with standard as well as occasional nontypical situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must have a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain an Arkansas Class I Wastewater within a year.
  • Must be able to obtain within two (2) years an Arkansas Grade I Wastewater Collection License.
