The City of Bowling Green is seeking a full-time wastewater plant operator to supervise and ensure proper plant operation and effluent quality. The role requires independent work, lab testing, and the ability to adjust multiple systems daily.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and OEPA Certification (Class I preferred; ability to obtain within two years). The position offers comprehensive benefits and a competitive hourly wage.
BGEO Pay Grade 5 : $26.72 - $34.12 per hour (requires OEPA Class I Certification)
BGEO Pay Grade 6: $28.06 - $35.81 per hour (requires OEPA Class II Certification)
BGEO Pay Grade 7: $29.44 - $37.60 per hour (requires OEPA Class III Certification & Class A CDL)
Summary: This full-time, hourly union position is responsible for oversight of the operation of the City's wastewater plant, ensuring effluent quality and proper and efficient plant operation .
Job Responsibilities: Monitoring plant operations and treatment equipment; performing laboratory tests and collecting samples; adjusting valves, gates, and other equipment; removing and hauling biosolids; performing maintenance and custodial duties; operating trucks and other equipment; maintaining accurate records and reports; communicating operational changes and problems to other shift operators; and attending required training. Must be able to work independently and respond appropriately to changing plant conditions and operational problems. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Experience/Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; valid Ohio Driver's license; three to five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, training, and work experience that provides the required skill sets. State of Ohio Class I, II, or III Wastewater Treatment Certification is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold an OEPA Certification will be considered, provided they are able to obtain a Class I OEPA Wastewater Treatment Certification within two years of hire.
