Job summary

The City of Bowling Green is hiring for a full-time, hourly union operator to oversee the wastewater plant, ensuring effluent quality and efficient operation. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Ohio driver's license, and certification options through OEPA.

Experience with wastewater treatment is preferred; certification within two years of hire is acceptable. Benefits include comprehensive insurance, paid leave, and retirement contributions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State of Ohio Class I, II, or III Wastewater Certification preferred.
• Candidates without OEPA certification may obtain it within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring plant operations and treatment equipment.
• Performing laboratory tests and collecting samples.
• Adjusting valves, gates, and other equipment.
• Removing and hauling biosolids.
• Performing maintenance and custodial duties.
• Operating trucks and other equipment.
• Maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Communicating changes to other shift operators.
• Attending required training.
• Work indoors and outdoors; willing to work any shift including weekends and holidays.

Education

OEPA Wastewater Certification (Class I/II/III) preferred
