Qualifications

• One year of experience working with mechanical equipment and tools.
• Completion of high school or equivalent.
• Ability to stand, reach, walk, stoop, push, pull and lift up to 50lbs.
• Nevada Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and regulatory requirements.
• Work is performed in both laboratory and field environments, including exposure to chemicals, odors, wastewater, and varying weather conditions.
• Potential for weekend or holiday work as needed based on plant operation needs.

Responsibilities

• Operate wastewater treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent; monitor gauges, meters and control panels; interpret meter readings and test results to determine processing requirements.
• Input plant operation data in computer; plot operational trends.
• Perform routine plant grounds maintenance work.
• Connect and disconnect chlorine cylinders.
• Assist in collecting samples for routine laboratory work and test.
• Assist in supervision and training of less experienced operators as assigned.
