Job summary

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in wastewater treatment plant or collection system operations or equivalent education/experience.
• NH Grade II Wastewater Treatment Certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call shifts.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment plant processes, pump stations, and collection systems
• Start up and shut down wastewater treatment equipment as required
• Monitor equipment, gauges, charts, and SCADA systems; record and maintain accurate operational logs
• Collect samples and perform laboratory analyses in accordance with established procedures
• Operate biosolids dewatering equipment, including centrifuges and belt filter presses
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems
• Calibrate and repair monitoring and control equipment such as flow meters and recorders
• Identify, report, and respond to safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations
• Maintain facility drawings and schematics
• Perform general facility, grounds, and custodial maintenance
• Assist with training lesser‑skilled operators
• Participate in committees and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in wastewater treatment plant or collection system operations (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• NH Grade II Wastewater Treatment Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in confined spaces
