Job summary

UCC Environmental, a leader in sustainable technology solutions, seeks a Wastewater Engineer to support our Field Engineering team in Libertyville, IL. The role focuses on executing wastewater projects from sales proposals through onsite execution, including sampling, test plans, startup, and commissioning.

You will collaborate across Sales, Engineering and Operations, travel 75%+, work with membrane filtration, RO, EDI and other treatment technologies, and help ensure on-time, on-budget

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical).
• 3–5 years as an Engineer or comparable wastewater engineering experience.
• Experience with wastewater treatment, power/industrial plants, or similar environments.
• Strong understanding of filtration and purification processes.
• Hands-on knowledge of membrane filtration and RO systems.
• Experience with start-up, commissioning, or operation of filtration and water treatment systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals and support the Service Department to enable project execution.
• Develop wastewater treatment standards and training materials for projects.
• Oversee on-site outage wash, water sampling, and pilot projects with system monitoring.
• Perform jar testing to determine chemicals and dosing rates.
• Ensure installation, commissioning, and startup are on time, within budget and meet quality standards.
• Prepare reports on wastewater sampling, progress, challenges, resolutions, and treatment effectiveness.
• Communicate with clients and contractors; stay current with new technology.
