Job summary

Valeo North America Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Operator for its waste water treatment operations in Reno, NV. You will operate and maintain industrial wastewater systems, monitor processes, and report on performance while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in wastewater treatment operations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs regularly, climbing ladders/stairs, and working in awkward positions.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting (control circuits, 24V–480V).
  • Forklift and/or scissor lift certification - not required but preferred.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, food & beverage, chemical, or similar industrial environment.
  • Strong safety mindset and commitment to following procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain industrial wastewater treatment systems (biological, physical-chemical, DAF, MBR, clarifiers, sludge handling, etc.).
  • Perform routine process monitoring, sampling, and laboratory testing (pH, TSS, BOD, COD, etc.).
  • Houry checks and reporting of the wastewater treatment area; adjust chemical feed rates, aeration, pumping, and other process parameters to maintain compliance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on treatment equipment (pumps, blowers, mixers, valves, instrumentation, filter presses, etc.).
  • Assist during regulatory inspections and sampling events; respond to treatment process upsets, spills, and emergency situations.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and LOTO protocols; participate in safety meetings and incident investigations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas; work overtime as required; assist other departments during major shutdowns, projects, or emergencies.

Wastewater Treatment Operations & Maintenance :

Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and LOTO protocols Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas Work occasional overtime as required Assist other departments during major shutdowns, projects, or emergencies

Qualifications & Requirements Required:

2+ years of hands-on experience in wastewater treatment operations Basic computer skills Ability to read and interpret basic P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and equipment manuals Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs regularly, climbing ladders/stairs, and working in awkward positions Basic electrical troubleshooting (control circuits, 24V–480V) Basic plumbing and pipefitting experience Forklift and/or scissor lift certification - not required but preferred Experience working in manufacturing, food & beverage, chemical, or similar industrial environment Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong safety mindset and commitment to following procedures Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision after training period Effective communication skills (verbal and written) Team player willing to support other departments when needed Attention to detail and good record-keeping habits Working Conditions & Physical Demands Industrial manufacturing/processing environment Regular exposure to loud noise, chemicals, odors, wet conditions, and temperature variations Required to wear appropriate PPE
