Join to apply for the Wastewater Technician role at Indiana Packers Corporation.

Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC) is seeking an experienced Wastewater Technician for our Delphi location. This position is responsible for monitoring and controlling the operation of the wastewater treatment plant, including tasks such as operating equipment, collecting samples, performing water quality tests, adjusting chemical levels, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The role is critical to the facility's operations, which run 24/7, 365 days a year.

The schedule for this position is 12-hour shifts from 5:00 pm to 5:30 am, on a 2-2-3 rotation.

Responsibilities
  1. Monitor and interpret readings from gauges, meters, and charts to ensure proper operation of the wastewater treatment process.
  2. Adhere to environmental, health, and safety standards, as well as company policies.
  3. Read and follow blueprints, drawings, layouts, and technical instructions related to the operation.
  4. Assist in the delivery and staging of chemicals used in wastewater treatment.
  5. Perform basic laboratory functions related to water testing.
  6. Obtain necessary certifications, including working towards a Class B Wastewater Certification within 3 years, with incentives for additional levels.
  7. Maintain detailed logs of operations, maintenance, safety activities, and test results.
  8. Manage spill control and cleanup procedures.
  9. Understand mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  10. Document work performed as required.
  11. Ensure stormwater compliance.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Effective problem-solving skills and ability to perform related calculations.
  3. Proficiency in English.
  4. Strong computer and technical skills.
  5. Mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively in small group settings.
  7. Forklift certification (must obtain).
  8. Experience in wastewater/environmental fields is preferred.
  9. Pass physical assessment and drug screening upon offer.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

The role involves exposure to extreme conditions, including fumes, moving mechanical parts, and noise, requiring hearing protection. Work may occur outdoors in various weather conditions. The physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, manual dexterity, and working at heights with proper PPE.
