Job summary

The Town of Burlington is seeking a skilled maintenance worker for the Water & Sewer Division to operate and repair wastewater collection systems under supervision. You will service pumps, monitor meters, and maintain records as part of a 40‑hour weekly union position.

Required are a CDL Class B with tank endorsement and Hoisting Licenses 1B and 2A, with experience in air compressors, engines, and mechanical drives. You may be recalled for snow removal and other public works tasks.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B with tank endorsement is required.
• Hoisting Licenses 1B and 2A are required; conditional consideration possible.
• Experience with air compressors and mechanical drives is needed.
• Familiarity with purifying equipment functions is preferred.
• Experience operating gasoline and diesel engines is required.
• Must be able to climb ladders up to 25 feet and assist in snow removal.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair pumps and auxiliary machinery and equipment.
• Readings of pump station meters; maintain charts, logs and records.
• Install, test, and adjust machinery used in sewer collection systems.
• Use work order systems and electronic devices for daily tasks.
• Operate and maintain equipment including air compressors and drives.
• Support snow removal and be available for emergencies and recalls.
• Assist with other general facility maintenance and public works tasks.
