The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking an Utility Maintenance Mechanic I in the Wastewater Division. The Utility Maintenance Mechanic I operates machinery involved with installation, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems, performs water meter readings, Troubleshoots functions in a pump station, and responds to customer complaints to keep pumping stations functioning.

Work hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Basic operational and technical knowledge to understand equipment and systems.
• One year of experience in machinery repair or maintenance is preferred.
• Valid Driver's License is required.

Responsabilités

• Operates and maintains equipment, cleans and inspects machinery, monitors readings and performs preventative maintenance.
• Inspects facilities, ensures stations are online and functioning properly, and maintains surrounding areas.
• Performs troubleshooting to identify causes of breakdowns or faults in mechanical, electrical, or distribution systems.
• Repairs by overhauling or replacing worn parts and installing new machinery and equipment.
• Responds to emergencies and adverse weather, removing debris as needed.
• Attends training and maintains logs to support operations.
