The Boring Company in Las Vegas, NV seeks a Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician to operate and maintain the on-site WWTP, ensuring continuous, compliant processing of water from tunneling and production operations. This full-time, hands-on role requires logging data, monitoring equipment, sampling water and soils, and coordinating with the WWTP Lead to keep treatment capacity aligned with the TBM fleet.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years of prior experience operating or maintaining a wastewater treatment plant, industrial water treatment system, or comparable equipment preferred.
• State-issued Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification/license a plus.
• Working knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes and basic water chemistry.
• Ability to read and interpret meters, gauges, SCADA displays, and process control instrumentation.
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and respond calmly to equipment alarms or process upsets.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor WWTP equipment, including pumps, filters, and clarifiers, adjusting processes to maintain safe, compliant treatment.
• Collect and log water and soil samples; perform routine field and lab testing.
• Perform build-out tunnel inspections at least three times per shift; monitor low spots and discharge pumps.
• Monitor dewatering tanks at other TBM locations and coordinate transfer of water for processing.
• Monitor and control neat water discharge; perform routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment; report issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate operating logs, sampling records, and maintenance documentation for regulatory reporting.
• Monitor plant conditions during shifts; respond to alarms, upsets, or equipment failures to prevent downtime or violations.
• Support Storm Water/SWPP-related field activity per weekly inspection reports.
• Track consumables and report current inventory levels and reorder needs to WWTP Lead.
• Coordinate shift handoffs to ensure continuous plant coverage.
• Follow site safety procedures, PPE requirements, and LOTOTO protocols when maintaining equipment.
• Communicate with WWTP Lead on plant status and water volume trends.
