Job summary

WSP is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician at our Blackhawk, CO facility. The role involves maintenance of plant systems, SCADA controls, and instrumentation, with safety and teamwork at the forefront.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, operate heavy equipment, and support operations by logging data, troubleshooting, and coordinating with contractors. The job requires shift work, safety compliance, and a proactive attitude.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year in a similar maintenance position.
• Ability to obtain a 40-hour OSHA HazWOPER certificate.
• Must pass WSP Motor Vehicle screening.
• Ability to operate heavy mobile, construction type equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Good understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality guidelines.
• Experience preparing safety documentation (JHEA’s, work permits).
• Experience with SCADA control systems.
• Basic understanding of pneumatic controls.
• Proficiency with electrical safety procedures.
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends and holidays (12-hour shifts).
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates self-leadership and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to traverse stairs and uneven terrain.
• Subject to client drug/alcohol testing policy.
• Uphold workplace safety and company policies.
• May require work beyond typical schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant facilities and major equipment.
• Operate skid steer for grounds maintenance and snow removal.
• Log process variables, troubleshoot equipment, and access site sampling locations.
• Manage the CMMS database with the site manager.
• Coordinate maintenance subcontractors and inspectors.
• Maintain inventory of parts and tools on site.
• Read equipment drawings, datasheets, and assembly information.
• Read and apply safety guidelines and procedures.
• Install and maintain plant process instrumentation (pH probes, turbidity, flow meters).
• Exercise safe work practices and provide leadership in safety goals.
