Job summary

Carpinteria Sanitary District is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor to lead the Operations team and ensure high‑quality treatment processes at our facility. The role requires supervising staff, monitoring plant performance, and performing routine laboratory tests.

The ideal candidate holds a state‑certified wastewater operator license (Grade 3+ or willing to obtain Grade 4 within 12 months) and CWEA certifications, plus a valid CA driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• State-certified wastewater treatment plant operator, Grade 3 or higher, or able to obtain Grade 4 within 12 months.
• CWEA Laboratory Analyst Grade 1 and Mechanical Technologist Grade 2 certifications.
• Valid California driver’s license and high school diploma or GED.
• Post-offer physical and background check required.
• Desirable: college coursework in wastewater treatment, water technology, environmental science, chemistry, biology, engineering technology, supervision or public administration.

Responsibilities

• Supervise employees and oversee plant operations.
• Monitor wastewater treatment processes and maintain equipment.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and document results.
• Repair and maintain systems as needed to ensure optimal operation.
• Be available for periodic on-call duty.
