County of San Luis Obispo is seeking a Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to lead operations for three treatment facilities and associated water systems. The role includes planning, directing activities, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state requirements, under the Wastewater Systems Superintendent.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with three years of progressive wastewater operation experience, and a valid SWRCB Grade 4 certification (or higher)

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED and three years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.
• Possession of a valid SWRCB Grade 4 certification (Title 23 of the California Code of Regulations) or higher at time of application is required.
• A valid California driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Responsabilités

• Oversee planning, coordination, and direction of activities for three wastewater treatment facilities (Los Osos WRF, CSA 18 Country Club, CSA 7A Oak Shores) and related collection, disposal, and recycled water systems.
• Supervise, train, and provide technical support to operations staff to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
• Represent the County as facility owner, including compliance with effluent limitations and discharge requirements.
• Coordinate with Wastewater Systems Superintendent and other departments as needed.
