Job summary

Harford County seeks a Plant Operator Trainee I - Wastewater to learn operation, maintenance, and repair of our treatment plants and pumping stations, under supervision, with focus on mastering SCADA interfaces and mechanical systems.

Eligible after satisfactory performance for promotion to Plant Operator Trainee II; includes 24/7 rotating shifts, safety rules, and a path to certification through OIT licenses; candidates must have a high school Diploma and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Possession of a valid Class “C” non-commercial driver’s license with up to three points.
• Willingness to pursue license certifications for Plant Operator Trainee II/Operator.

Responsibilities

• Maintain buildings/grounds, perform custodial tasks, and assist with equipment upkeep.
• Monitor gauges, meters, and SCADA; report deviations to supervisors.
• Conduct rounds, inspect treatment processes and equipment for proper operation.
• Operate valves and controls to regulate wastewater flow; perform preventive maintenance.
