The City of St. Charles is seeking a skilled wastewater operator to join the Public Works team. You will operate, inspect, and maintain treatment plant equipment and lift stations, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations and local standards.

Responsibilities include data collection, preventative maintenance, emergency response, and collaboration with city programs. A Class 1 wastewater license is required or obtained within five years; strong math and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of experience in Public Works and/or constructions industry.
• Class 1 Wastewater Operators License issued by the Illinois EPA, or receipt of one within five years.
• Knowledge of operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant and lift stations.
• Fundamental math skills.

Responsabilités

• Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment and machinery and control panels used in the treatment process.
• Operate the wastewater treatment process in accordance with laws and EPA regulations.
• Troubleshoot, repair and report equipment malfunctions and process abnormalities.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Inspect and maintain lift stations.
• Collect samples and perform tests; respond to public service complaints.
• Respond to emergencies and operate SCADA systems.
• Assist in citywide programs such as snow and ice removal.
