Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is hiring a Wastewater Plant Operator II to oversee operation, maintenance, and monitoring of wastewater facilities, ensuring water quality and safety standards are met. The role supports SCADA monitoring, sample analysis, and coordination with maintenance crews.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of wastewater experience, a Texas Class C license, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED; an associate degree or trade certification is preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience in wastewater treatment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Class C Wastewater Treatment Operator’s License required.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and adjust facility operations using observations, samples, instrumentation, and SCADA to ensure compliant, efficient operations.
• Participate in an environment that values Integrity, Trust, Respect, Unity, Safety, and Teamwork.
• Notify appropriate personnel of abnormal conditions and coordinate with maintenance on repairs; plan and perform maintenance procedures for assets.
• Maintain logs and records in written and electronic form and use them to identify improvements for operations.
• Adhere to safety policies; monitor for security breaches and respond to emergencies as directed.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and report problems during emergencies or planned shutdowns.
• Clean screens, grit, clarifiers, filters, UV system, and other wastewater equipment; maintain facility grounds and perform housekeeping.
• Receive shipments, monitor unloading, and ensure documents are filed correctly.
• Learn and comply with applicable policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
