Job summary

Harnett County seeks an entry-level Water/Wastewater Plant Operator to perform skilled operational and maintenance functions at our wastewater treatment facilities. You will monitor plant processes, collect samples, perform standard tests, and adjust operations to safely treat and dispose of waste.

This role requires a high school diploma, NC driver's license, and the ability to obtain NC Biological Wastewater Operator Grade I license within three test attempts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No experience required.
• NC driver's license.
• NC Biological Wastewater Operator Grade I license or ability to obtain within three test attempts.
• First six months probation if exam not passed.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze wastewater samples throughout the plant using standardized tests; review results and adjust operations.
• Monitor the process and make adjustments.
• Learn key elements in operating a plant.
• Assist with maintenance and ensure equipment operates efficiently.
• Ensure plant facilities and grounds are clean, neat, and safe.
• Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
