Job summary

Jacobs in Oklahoma City is hiring a Wastewater Operator to join a safety‑driven operations team. You will operate, repair, and maintain a water treatment plant, perform routine lab tests, and carry out written and oral directions.

The role requires a Level D license or reciprocity, plant experience, and strong computer and safety skills. Travel to client sites is expected, and weekends/shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• State of Oklahoma Level D Wastewater Operator License required or ability to obtain through reciprocity with 6 months of hire
• Experience operating a wastewater treatment facility
• Experience with sound safety principles and practices
• Experience with computer operations with the ability to prepare spreadsheets and word processing documents, and enter information into maintenance management system
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, shift work and on call duty as required
• Possess a valid driver's license with no major infractions

Responsibilities

• Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/ wastewater, sludge, and effluent
• Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
• Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings
• Starts and stops pump, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
• Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses
• Make operating decisions in absence of supervisory personnel
