Job summary

Sarasota County Government is hiring Operators and Trainees to monitor and operate wastewater treatment plant equipment, collect samples, run labs, and maintain records. Work includes SCADA monitoring, responding to alarms, and daily plant operations with a focus on safety and reliability.

Training is available to obtain Florida water/wastewater licenses within two years, with multiple shifts including days, afternoons, and nights.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain Class C Water and/or Wastewater license within 2 years.
• Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.
• Safety training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, record, and interpret data for operation and maintenance records.
• Collect samples and perform laboratory analyses; adjust as needed.
• Monitor SCADA and respond to alarms and trends.
• Operate pumps, motors, valves, and treatment plant equipment daily.
• Perform maintenance and housekeeping on plant grounds.
