Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Corrections Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman for the State Correctional Institution Mercer to oversee daily wastewater operations and supervise inmate workers, ensuring safe, compliant plant performance and timely maintenance coordination.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of wastewater plant operation experience, PA certification, and a Class C driver’s license.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
• Valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators equal to or higher than Class E, Subclasses 1 and 4.
• Valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
• Must pass background investigation and CJIS compliance requirements.
• Veterans preferences may apply per state law.

Responsibilities

• Plant Operations: Maintain continuous wastewater treatment processes under normal and emergency conditions
• Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain motors, pumps, valves, compressors, and related equipment
• Water Testing: Test water chemistry and maintain logs, inventories, and required records
• Operational Communication: Address issues with supervisor and complete paperwork and inventories
• Inmate Oversight: Supervise inmate workers and maintain safe, secure work environments
