Job summary

The City of Alexandria is hiring a Pipelayer for Wastewater Collection to perform skilled labor in constructing, maintaining, and repairing water, wastewater, and gas distribution systems. This role requires readiness for 24-hour on-call responses and emergency situations in Central Louisiana.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license; Louisiana Class D license within one month of hire and potential Class A/B CDL as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Two years experience in pipeline construction, repair, or maintenance preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required; must obtain LA license on hire and Class D within one month.

Responsibilities

• Dig holes, trenches, and ditches for pipe laying.
• Prepare and cut/thread pipe to spec; install wastewater piping.
• Maintain, repair, and construct gas utility and lift systems and manholes.
• Protect lines from corrosion and inspect systems per dept guidelines.
• May lead workers in supervisor’s absence; transport and operate tools and equipment.
• Operate mini excavator, pipe saw, probes, and related tools.
