Job summary

Inframark seeks a Wastewater Operator I to join our Operations and Maintenance team. You will help operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities that protect public health and the environment, while pursuing required certifications and learning through hands-on training.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office and internet apps.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant equipment and related machinery.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, sampling, and monitoring of processes.
  • Perform basic laboratory analyses and record operational data.
  • Monitor plant performance, including flow rates and chemical usage.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and assist with emergency repairs.
  • Respond to after-hours callouts and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
  • Ensure facilities stay safe, clean, and compliant with regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with customers and stakeholders.
  • Follow safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

In this role, you will help operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities that protect public health, preserve natural resources, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

What You'll Do

As a Wastewater Operator I, you will:

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, belt presses, disinfection systems, and related machinery
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, sampling, and monitoring of treatment processes
  • Perform basic laboratory analyses and record operational data
  • Monitor plant performance, including flow rates, chemical usage, dosage levels, and equipment operation
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on treatment equipment
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and assist with emergency repairs as needed
  • Respond to after-hours callouts and emergency situations
  • Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records
  • Ensure facilities remain safe, clean, secure, and compliant with regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with customers and stakeholders
  • Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment
  • Ability to learn wastewater treatment processes and regulatory requirements
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internet applications
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous wastewater treatment, water treatment, utility, industrial, maintenance, or mechanical experience
  • Wastewater Operator License or certification
  • CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
  • Completion of water or wastewater treatment coursework
  • Experience with pumps, motors, electrical equipment, instrumentation, or process controls
Schedule Requirements

This position supports a 24/7 operation. Candidates must be willing to work:

  • Day, evening, or night shifts
  • Weekends and holidays
  • Overtime as needed
  • On-call rotations and emergency response assignments
Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50-60 pounds
  • Load, unload, and move equipment and tools
  • Walk extensively throughout the facility
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms
  • Work in confined spaces and various weather conditions
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods
