Job summary

Smithfield is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator to tend pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators and other equipment used to decontaminate wastewater. You will collect samples, read charts and gauges, and report on process performance to ensure compliant operations in a fast paced plant environment.

Required are a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years of relevant experience and the ability to obtain Nebraska Class I Wastewater and Water licenses within designated timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years' relevant experience and/or training.
• Nebraska Class I Wastewater License (or able to acquire within 3 years) and Nebraska Class I Water License (or able to acquire within 2 years).
• Ability to present information effectively in small group settings.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).

Responsibilities

• Tends pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum filters and other equipment used to decontaminate wastewater by settling, aeration, and sludge digestion.
• Collects samples and makes process reports.
• Reads charts, flow meters and gauges to detect equipment malfunctions.
• Assists supervisor in completing tasks and responsibilities as needed.
