Job summary

Clean Harbors in Bristol, CT is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator to oversee operations and maintenance of wastewater systems. The role covers SCADA monitoring, sampling, and process optimization, with a mid shift from 9am to 7pm.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, wastewater certification is preferred, and 3–5 years of field experience. Must lift up to 50 lbs and possess a valid driver’s license. Competitive benefits and overtime opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in wastewater treatment is preferred.
• 3–5 years of field experience can substitute for certification.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Clean and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following policies and procedures.
• Collect water and wastewater samples per proper procedures.
• Inspect and maintain sewage lift-stations and piping.
• Repair and maintain exterior piping (PVC/HDPE) per best practices.
• Install and maintain lift stations, heat tracing, and insulation.
• Perform calculations of flow rates and pump times as required.
• Conduct routine lab tests to optimize treatment processes.
• Record data readings and assist with data interpretation for control adjustments.
• Monitor and control plant equipment and process data (SCADA).
• Maintain daily logs and coordinate process control with shift operators.
• Maintain regulatory report data and accessibility for stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot operational, biological, and PLC issues.
• Stay up to date with best practices and regulatory changes.
• Maintain certifications and licenses, notify changes.
