Job summary

City of Wentzville is seeking a Wastewater Operator I to assist daily operations at the Water Reclamation Center and Wastewater Division facilities. The role supports biosolids management, conducts sample collection, and ensures safety and compliance with regulations.

The position requires at least one year of related experience; a Class D certification or CDL with related endorsements is preferred or obtainable within 180 days. Eligible for comprehensive benefits and a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in inspection and operation of wastewater treatment operations or related experience.
• Certification/license preferred or required within 180 days.
• Prior equipment operating experience preferred.
• Knowledge of wastewater processes and ability to follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs at the Water Reclamation Center.
• Perform custodial duties and grounds maintenance at Wastewater facilities.
• Operate vehicles and heavy equipment as required.
• Support Biosolids Management and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with sample collection and laboratory procedures.
• Provide professional customer service and maintain safety and compliance.
• Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours emergency response.
