Job summary

The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals for a Wastewater Operator I/ Semi Truck Trailer Driver role. Primary duties include loading biosolids and transporting to disposal sites, with on‑the‑job learning of technical plant operations under supervision.

Responsibilities include field inspections, sampling, routine maintenance, logs, and basic repairs, while working with certified operators. Evening and weekend shifts may be required; SCBA certification is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license / CDL required.
• ADEQ operator certifications preferred; Grade 1 certification within one year from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Load biosolids and transport to disposal site.
• Operate heavy equipment and assist in wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Conduct field inspections and collect/test wastewater samples.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs; log work orders and data.

Education

Ability to obtain Grade 1 wastewater operator certification within one year
