Job summary

Woodard & Curran in Georgia seeks a maintenance-focused wastewater operator to participate in the daily operations and maintenance of industrial treatment systems. The role requires being on-call, including weekends and holidays, and responding to emergencies.

You will monitor processes (including SCADA), perform water quality sampling, operate and repair plant equipment, and keep records. A valid Georgia driver's license, safety awareness, and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in wastewater or water treatment.
  • Experience with pumps, compressors, or maintenance preferred.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater operation & safety procedures.
  • Proficient with computer applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Job description

What you will do
  • Participate in the daily operations and maintenance of Industrial Wastewater Treatment Systems as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Work on an on‑call rotation that includes weekends, holidays, and outside normal workday hours, and respond to emergency or unpredicted situations.
  • Monitor wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment, both manually and via SCADA automation, and make adjustments as necessary to control operation.
  • Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to determine compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repair of plant equipment, including preventive maintenance duties.
  • Utilize software programs for work orders and maintain all necessary records.
  • Perform general maintenance duties of the plant and other assigned duties.
Schedule

12:00 am to 12:00 pm. Shift workers will occasionally need to help cover an additional shift. The rotation is: Week 1 – 2 days on (Mon, Tue), 2 days off (Wed, Thu), 3 days on (Fri, Sat, Sun).
Week 2 – 2 days off (Mon, Tue), 2 days on (Wed, Thu), 3 days off (Fri, Sat, Sun).

Qualifications
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a wastewater or water treatment environment.
  • Experience with pumps, compressors, plumbing fixtures, or a background in maintenance is highly desirable.
  • A valid State of Georgia motor‑vehicle operator’s license.
  • Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment and collection systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in wastewater treatment work.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre‑placement physical and drug screen before employment.
