Job description

The City of Lansing is seeking to fill a full-time Wastewater Maintenance Worker 400 position at one of Michigan's largest wastewater facilities, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply skills in maintenance and operation of wastewater treatment plant equipment, pump stations, and groundskeeping tasks. Special Requirements & Training:

• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License, Group B with Air Brake and N (tank) endorsements, including the DOT medical card. Highly preferred OR ability to obtain CDL B with N endorsement and DOT medical card within 90 days of hire, or employment will be terminated.
• May be required to respond to emergency call-ins and work shifts as needed.

Ideal Candidates Will Possess:

• High School Diploma or GED (college coursework in industrial or mechanical fields preferred); AND
• At least two years of experience in:
• Operation and repair of water or wastewater plant equipment, industrial equipment maintenance, or related plumbing and mechanical tasks.

Essential Position Functions Include But Are Not Limited To:

• Maintaining and repairing wastewater plant and field equipment, fabricating parts, and rebuilding machinery.
• Performing preventative maintenance and pipefitting tasks.
• Operating trucks to transport materials and removing snow and ice from plant areas.
• Performing building maintenance and minor repairs.

Post-Hire Requirements:

• Participation in employer-paid Hepatitis B vaccination program.
• Completion of MDOT Drug & Alcohol Training, Confined Space Training and Certification, and Powered Industrial Truck and Aerial Work Platform certifications.
