Job summary

Foster Farms seeks a Wastewater Plant Operator to manage the daily operations of our industrial wastewater pretreatment facility. You will operate and maintain the treatment system, monitor regulatory compliance, calibrate monitors, and document results while keeping logs up to date.

The role requires reading manuals, performing repairs, and adhering to safety and GMP procedures as part of a reliable team. Overnight shifts may be required, and candidates should be able to lift heavy objects and

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years' experience operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment.
• Wastewater/Water Operator Certification preferred.
• Able to work overnight, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Able to read, write, compile and analyze data daily.
• Strong mechanical ability and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of an industrial wastewater pretreatment plant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• This role is responsible for the daily operations of an industrial Wastewater Pre-treatment plant to include all ancillary equipment, and chemical treatment systems.
• Operate and maintain wastewater treatment system to regulate flow and processing of water in accordance with the facilities ADEM Industrial Wastewater discharge permit.
• Analyze data and samples to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Diagnoses and repair various pumps, drive units, reducers, pneumatic valves, solenoid valves associated with plant equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service; plan and lay out repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
• Must have an understanding of total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, pH, sedimentation, general chemistry reactions and coagulation in order to determine and perform operational adjustments as required.
• Calibrates pH probes and documents results in required logbook. Assists in calibration of any wastewater plant system mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment associated with the plant operations.
• Clearly communicates any malfunctions or operational problems with Wastewater Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager.
• Maintains accurate and complete records and logs of all plant operations.
• Completes daily shift log entries pertaining to daily activities.
• Daily tracking of chemical inventories, spare parts inventory, and waste disposal activities.
• Understanding and commitment to safety.
• Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance activities as assigned.
• Perform daily shift housekeeping duties, and complete and maintain work records in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED.

• Must be able to work overnight.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed.
• Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check.
• Must have the ability to read, write, compile, and analyze data and reports daily.
• Strong mechanical ability and aptitude required.
• Must be able to work safely.
• Ability and desire to work in a "team mentality".
• Must follow company GMP and Food Safety procedure.
• Must follow company attendance policies and procedures.
• Must be literate in Microsoft Applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to tolerate extreme fluctuations in temperature while performing essentials functions.
• Must be trained in lock-out tag-out and safe work practices.
• Must be able to bend, stoop walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to climb and work from ladders and in confined spaces safely.
• Must be able to work from high altitudes, tank catwalks.
• Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work on wet concrete floors.
