Job summary

East Pennsboro Township is seeking a Wastewater Laborer w/ CDL to join the Wastewater division. The role focuses on preventative and corrective inspection and maintenance of the township's sanitary sewer system, with emphasis on safety and compliance.

You will operate a flusher truck, sewer camera, and confined-space access, perform routine checks at pumping stations, and support material procurement and equipment maintenance in a unionized team environment.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Possess a valid Class B PA CDL with clean driving record (tank end.)
• Must obtain DEP Wastewater Collections Certification (Class E Subclass 4) within 24 months.
• Must obtain DEP Wastewater Operator Certification (Class B Subclass 1) within 48 months.

Responsibilities

• Reviews PA One Call requests and provides marking of underground facilities.
• Operates flusher truck and sewer camera.
• Accesses confined spaces, including manholes.
• Performs maintenance of traffic per guidelines.
• Performs routine checks at pumping stations.
• Cleans and lubricates pumps, motors and equipment.
• Transports Township equipment per PennDOT Class B CDL limits.
• Keeps safety and regulations updated; reports malfunctions.

Wastewater Laborer w/ CDL Job Description Opens in new window The primary responsibility of the Wastewater Laborer w/ CDL position in the Wastewater division is to perform preventative and corrective inspection and maintenance on all equipment and installations of the Townships sanitary sewer system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviews PA One Call requests and provides timely and accurate marking of underground facilities
• Operates flusher truck
• Operates sewer camera
• Accesses confined spaces, including manholes
• Performs maintenance of traffic per current guidelines
• Performs routine production and quality checks at pumping stations
• Cleans and lubricates pumps, motors and related equipment
• Assists in removing, repairing and replacing equipment
• Stays current on changes in wastewater regulations and procedures
• Treats all materials, tools and equipment with respect and reports any malfunctions or damage in a timely manner
• Procures materials and supplies, as required, to perform general and specific job duties
• Completes Township jobs in a timely and cost-efficient manner
• Recognizes and prevents safety hazards in job environment while practicing ongoing safe workplace procedures
• Maintains a professional manner in all interactions and communications with the public and fellow co-workers
• Follows the policies in the Teamsters Collective Bargaining Agreement and Township Employee Manual
• Transports to and from job sites all Township owned equipment not exceeding PennDOT guidelines for a Class B CDL (Class B CDL - Single vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not more than 10,000 )
• Operates Township equipment to remove snow and ice from Township owned streets and properties
• Performs any other duties as requested by Management that is considered Union Non-Uniform work

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum Class B Pennsylvania State Commercial Drivers License with clean driving record per PennDOT regulations – single vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 26,001 pounds or more, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not more than 10,000 pounds. Tanker Endorsement designed to transport any liquid or gaseous material within a tank that is permanently or temporarily attached to the vehicle or chassis. To be maintained for duration of employment.
• Pass the DEP Wastewater Collections Certification (Class E Subclass 4) test within 24-months of start date. To be maintained for duration of employment.
• Pass the DEP Wastewater Operator Certification w/ Activated Sludge subclass (Class B Subclass 1) test within 48-months of start date. To be maintained for duration of employment.
