Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Lab Tech for a contract-to-hire role in Detroit, MI, supporting wastewater treatment and environmental compliance. Responsibilities include sampling and analyses to support regulatory submissions and operational reports.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate Degree or higher in chemistry or related sciences, with a valid Michigan driver's license, and the ability to work a rotating day/night shift in an industrial setting with 24-hour operations.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher in chemistry, engineering, or a related science.
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
• Ability to work in an industrial setting supporting 24-hour operations.
• Flexibility to work day and night shifts on a rotating schedule.
• Physical ability to climb, bend, lift 50+ pounds, and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Collect field samples of wastewater, sludge, and polymers from plant processes.
• Perform chemical, microbiological, toxicological, and physical analyses including prep, instrument operation, calibration, and maintenance.
• Learn laboratory analyses and treatment processes to support operational efficiency.
• Train new hires in process analyses and sampling procedures to ensure team competency.
• Contribute to record-keeping, reporting of laboratory data, regulatory submissions, and operational reports.
