Job summary

City of Deerfield Beach is seeking a Water Distribution Worker to install, repair and maintain water lines, hydrants, meters and related equipment in support of the city’s water system. You will work with contractors on rehabilitation projects and respond to public inquiries about the distribution network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3 years in maintenance/repair of plumbing or water lines.
• CDL Class B with Tanker Endorsement or able to obtain within 12 months.
• CPR and First Aid certifications within 6 months of hire.
• Confined Space Rescue training within 6 months of hire.
• Wastewater Collection Class C or ability to obtain within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Install, construct, maintain, and repair water distribution equipment.
• Work with contractors on rehabilitation projects.
• Inspect underground utilities including mains and lift stations.
• Inspect and service equipment; perform routine maintenance.
• Handle public inquiries regarding water distribution.
• Operate light and heavy equipment, including Vacuum Truck.
• Maintain safety/rescue equipment on service vehicles.
• May work in confined spaces and during emergencies on a rotation.
