Job summary

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. is seeking an Engineer I to assist with engineering system design across multiple projects under supervision. You will perform design calculations, prepare cost estimates, and produce deliverable drawings.

A bachelor's degree in engineering is required; 0-1 year experience is preferred and EIT is a plus. Familiarity with AutoCAD, MATLAB, or SolidWorks is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 0–1 year experience preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWorks or similar software.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and identify root causes.
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking.
• Understanding of timelines, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Effective communication and collaboration with team.
• Knowledge of data interpretation and basic statistical methods.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and detailing of engineering systems; edit specs and research design options.
• Apply procedures to perform tasks; research findings and provide recommendations.
• Collect data and perform basic computations; prepare drawings/visual aids.
• Participate in meetings to ensure code compliance; conduct site investigations.
• Interface with staff, public, officials, and contractors; limited client-facing work.
