Job summary

UCC Environmental is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Engineer to join our Field Engineering team in Illinois. You will support wastewater projects from proposal through on-site execution, traveling to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities include testing, system optimization, startup support, and regular reporting. A bachelor’s in engineering (chemical or mechanical) and 3–5 years in wastewater engineering are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical).
• 3–5 years as an Engineer or comparable experience in wastewater engineering tech.
• Experience in wastewater treatment, power, or industrial plant environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of membrane filtration: microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration.
• Experience with RO systems: operation, troubleshooting, optimization.
• Familiarity with media filtration: sand, multi-media, carbon.
• Experience with EDI for high-purity water applications.
• Ability to evaluate system performance and identify improvements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Sales and Engineering in proposal prep, representing Service needs.
• Develop wastewater standards and training materials for field execution.
• Assist on-site outage work: water sampling, pilot projects, monitoring, troubleshooting.
• Perform jar testing to select chemicals and dosing rates.
• Ensure installation, commissioning, startup on time and within budget.
• Prepare wastewater sampling reports and progress/status updates.
• Communicate with clients and contractors throughout projects.
• Maintain technical expertise and network with customers and partners.
• Demonstrate UCC’s core values.
• All other duties as assigned.
