Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is seeking an Electrical (Controls Engineer) to design, develop, program, and implement automation and control systems for industrial wastewater projects in Mooresville, NC.

The role collaborates with Applications and Process Engineering to ensure safe, reliable operation aligned with customer specs. You will design PLC/HMI systems, develop control philosophies, and create comprehensive documentation while coordinating with electrical panel manufacturers and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of three (3) years designing industrial automation or process control systems.
Experience programming PLCs and HMIs.
Knowledge of instrumentation, motor controls, VFDs, and industrial communications.
Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and engineering drawings.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design PLC and HMI control systems for wastewater treatment equipment and integrated process systems.
Develop control philosophies, functional descriptions, and automation sequences.
Create electrical and control system documentation including I/O lists and narratives.
Select instrumentation and control devices such as sensors and valves.
Collaborate with Process Engineering to translate requirements into automated control strategies.
Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
Support FAT, SAT, startup, commissioning, and training.
