Job summary

City of Miami Beach is seeking a trainee Wastewater Collection System Operator to learn the operation, repair and maintenance of the wastewater collection network under the Sewer Supervisor.

The role requires a high school diploma, ability to obtain a Florida WCPA class C or higher within 18 months, and a valid Florida CDL B with endorsements within 12 months. Shift work includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Willing to obtain required certifications within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Install service laterals and wastewater mains.
• Clear flow stoppages.
• Locate sewer mains, force mains, and laterals for utilities.
• Operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Set up traffic control and monitor conditions.
• Maintain tools and equipment; assist with repairs.
• Prepare maintenance records and reports.
• Document preventive maintenance on facilities and piping.
• Coordinate with supervisor and other departments.
• Plan and purchase materials for projects.
