Job summary

City of Abilene, Texas is seeking a Wastewater Collection Utility Worker II to perform construction, maintenance, and operations within the wastewater system and assist with water distribution tasks as needed.

The role requires operating heavy machinery (backhoe, dump truck, sewer jetter, air compressor, vacuum truck), inspecting lines, responding to issues, and coordinating repairs with required personnel. A CDL and relevant licenses are preferred.

Qualifications

• Safe driving and heavy equipment operation principles.
• GIS applications knowledge.
• Familiarity with City of Abilene policies.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, install, and replace wastewater lines, valves, and pumps.
• Operate a City vehicle to travel to worksites.
• Maintain a safe and productive work site.
• Operate equipment such as backhoe, dump truck, sewer jetter, air compressor, or vacuum truck.
• Investigate customer complaints related to leaks and sewer issues.
