Job summary

Recology is seeking a Waste Zero Specialist Lead to design and administer comprehensive waste diversion programs. You will interact with commercial and residential customers, local jurisdictions, and community groups to drive program success and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes developing and evaluating diversion strategies, managing partnerships, and delivering community education. A flexible schedule and frequent travel are expected to support regional sustainability goals.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience in resource recovery (e.g., waste disposal, recycling).
• Technical and professional principles, practices, laws, applications and programs in position related area.
• Current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
• Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead day to day guidance on work matters and support management.
• Complete waste and diversion assessments for customers and outline opportunities.
• Manage contracts from key commercial recycling customers in franchised and unregulated markets.
• Analyze audit reports on contamination and provide recommendations to improve diversion rates.
• Develop concepts, timelines, and objectives for projects.
• Engage with local community organizations and represent the company.
• Coordinate programs with local jurisdictions and educate customers on elements and services.
• Contribute content for media and communications to promote the company.
