Overview

This position is responsible for ensuring that all water leaving the plant water treatment facility meets or exceeds required guidelines. The Waste Water Operator works with production departments to ensure proper handling of effluents and waste products according to city, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities grounds. Usually, the work schedule is five to six days a week, with overtime possible based on production needs.

Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Perform operational maintenance on all water treatment systems.
2. Monitor wastewater treatment plant operations and identify needed changes or potential problems; make necessary adjustments.
3. Perform chemical analysis of water samples.
4. Operate equipment such as drain pads and computer systems to monitor plant operations and alarms.
5. Maintain daily records and shift logs.
6. Review readings from meters, computers, and instruments.
7. Operate a wastewater truck as a yard jockey.
8. Oversee the operation of pre-treatment and rendering equipment.
9. Be willing to cross-train and learn all tasks within the department.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. High school diploma or equivalent is beneficial but not required.
2. Must pass a wastewater truck driving test.
3. Willingness to learn all jobs in the assigned area.
4. Good communication skills and attendance record (less than 4 points).
5. Basic math skills and ability to work independently.
6. No disciplinary write-ups in the last 6 months.
7. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Exposure to wet and moist floors, outside temperatures, noise levels of 50-110 db, chemicals, dust, feathers, and heavy machinery is expected. Must be able to lift 8-10 lbs repetitively and occasionally lift 40-70 lbs. Ability to work on feet for entire shift and climb steps is required.
