Position Details

Job Description: Under closer supervision, maintains, cleans, inspects, repairs, and tests sewer lines, collection facilities, and pumping sites. May also perform general maintenance duties including operating equipment and making repairs.

Salary Range: Trainee: $20.18; Worker I: $21.42 - $28.16.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains and cleans sewer lines using various tools and equipment.
  • Inspects sewer lines with television and sound equipment.
  • Locates lines and installs or repairs sewer mains.
  • Tests lines and operates sealing equipment under supervision.
  • Performs maintenance on sewer systems and equipment.
  • Raises and seals manholes, including concrete pouring, traffic control, and public notification.
  • Inspects and maintains sewer pumping facilities, including pumps and generators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED and one year of maintenance or heavy labor experience.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift under extreme conditions, and work in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license or driving privilege card.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Valid Utah Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B).
  • Previous wastewater system maintenance experience.
Additional Information:
  • Work involves outdoor conditions, exposure to raw sewage, biological and chemical wastes, and potential hazards.
  • After two years, eligible for advancement to WW Collection Maintenance Worker II.
  • Must pass a physical exam and may be subject to overtime and callbacks.
