Job summary

City and County of Denver is seeking Waste Service Operator I to join the Solid Waste Management team. You will operate collection trucks, load waste and recyclables, and follow routes across the City and County of Denver to keep neighborhoods clean.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of general labor experience with six months driving equipment, and a valid CDL-B with endorsements. The job includes potential overtime and requires passing a background check.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years general labor experience with at least six months driving light to mid-size equipment.
• CDL-B with endorsements required at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate solid waste trucks (rear loader/roll-off) on assigned routes.
• Load/unload waste and recycling at landfills or centers.
• Read route maps to plan efficient collection.
• Document service completion using route tech/tablets.
• Report uncollected refuse and maintain daily logs.
• Perform routine maintenance and pre/post trip inspections.
