Job summary

SBM Management Services, LP is seeking a Waste Technician to collect and classify municipal solid waste, including trash, recycling, medical and hazardous waste at client facilities. You will sort, weigh, and document materials while maintaining a clean work area and following safety rules and procedures.

The role requires 1–2 years in waste management or recycling, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors with physical tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 1-2 years recycling or solid waste experience in a company environment or equivalent combination of training and experiences.
• Motor Vehicle Report Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.
• May be required to be vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination records upon employment: Influenza, DTap (Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis), Meningitis, Meningitis B, Polio, Rabies, Yellow Fever.
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification a plus
• May be required to possess a valid driver’s license
• Complete all safety and task training certification
• May be required to become forklift certified
• May be required to have hazardous waste handler training per RCRA
• Bilingual a plus
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and willingness to share with team
• Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use

Responsibilities

• Collect trash, recycle, medical and/or hazardous waste.
• Be trained on collecting, consolidating and sorting processes.
• Sort materials into assigned categories efficiently and accurately.
• Inspect materials and sort by type, size, condition, coloring, marking, or other characteristics.
• Weigh materials and containers and keep records of waste collected.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Sweep and pick up trash around dumpsters, courtyards, docks, and fence lines.
• Follow all safety rules, policies and procedures.
• Communicate professionally with lead, supervisor, coworkers and customers.
• Use personal protective equipment correctly.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
